Become a writer

We are accepting author applications at Beginner Maps! Let us do the drudgery of creative work while you be the author and share your cool community building stories / lessons.

Why?

We want to make Beginner Maps the #1 free educational resource for anyone who wants to build a community business.

Our approach to do that has always been to pull the best "teachers" and therefore the best lessons. Until now, we've been doing that by inviting the operators of top community businesses to our podcast. We've published 25+ interviews in this manner.

Today, we are introducing a new way to further this mission by sharing the blog with other writers.

How it works?

We want to publish hard-earned lessons from practitioners. These could be your hot takes, secret recipes, painful learnings and behind-the-scenes tales. We believe that if you're doing the difficult work of building a community business, you've got something unique to teach the world.

In order to make it effortless for you, we've come up with a unique approach:

  1. Share your article idea by sending an email to hi@beginnermaps.com . Just write a casual email to a friend. Give a brief rundown of your idea and why you want to write it.
  2. Jump on a 60-min Zoom call with me (Nityesh) to hash out the idea. We go deep here because this is where the magic happens. I'll ask you questions, cross questions and pull insights out of you that you didn't even know existed.
  3. Then, we take the transcript of the call, clean it up and write a pretty damn good first draft.
  4. You review the first draft and make edits. You have complete control here.
  5. We do one final review and hit publish!

We are looking to publish insights on community engagement, growing the business, handling churn, behind-the-scenes ops work and the "boring but critical" business side of things.

Why be an author?

  • Mission: We've all been in those communities where magic happens. Where members create value for each other. Powerful connections are made unlocking life-changing opportunities for its members. Our world needs more such communities. Your insight will help make this happen.
  • Your words, our work: we handle the drudgery of the creative work. Using the latest AI tools and lots of our own hard work, we help you publish an article in record time. All in all, we expect a time commitment from your side of just 2-4 hours to produce an article of 2000 - 5000 words.
  • Get exposed to our audience: we've got 100s of people reading and listening to Beginner Maps. We'll share the article with all of them. Plus, we'll also share the article with anybody willing to listen on social media and other communities.

All articles will be published under your name - linked to your unique author page.

So, if you've ever wanted to write more and become a thought leader, consider this your calling. Hit us up at hi@beginnermaps.com.
